If you walk up to where Main splits off to Kinsgway (at 7), you'll come to a weird little patch which you might be e familiar with. I'm sure that on first impression, you'll be sucked into Gene because of its cool look and all, and turned off by our town coffee which is at the corner of 12th and Kingsway (just a few doors down)... but you should try both.

Having moved in the area myself, I much prefer Our town coffee. The people are friendly, the coffee is good and so are their soups and sandwiches. The coffee at Gene is good too, but the people are weird in there. They focus too much on looking cool.

In between Gene and Our town is budgies which makes great tasting burritos. Way better than steamrollers
